Vinesh Phogat appealed against her disqualification. The hearing has ended, awaiting the verdict!
India is mourning the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat from the Olympics 2024 that too with just 150 gms over the limit. this disqualification has caused an outrage in the hearts of millions.
Vinesh did a lot of hard work to get back into the ideal weight bracket. She skipped, did an intense workout, went to the sauna to reduce her water weight, drew blood out, stayed awake, didn’t eat or drink, and even cut her hair short so that she could lose the additional weight. But she was unfortunately disqualified.
Support has been pouring online on social media where people are supporting her and applauding her performance. A lot of people are outraged about her being disqualified by such a small margin.
Among those outraged is CM Bhagwant Maan, who took to X to express his disappointment. He said,
“Her hair alone may have weighed 200 grams. What is 100 grams or 50 grams (overweight)? A mistake has taken place at such a level. What are the physiotherapists and coaches there for? They take salaries in lakhs. What have they gone to do there? Have they gone there to roam around?” he asked.
Heartbroken with the disqualification, Vinesh shared a tweet,
“Mom, today wrestling won and I lost. Forgive me. Your dreams are shattered. My courage is broken. I don’t have any more strength now. Goodbye Wrestling 2001-2024. I will always be indebted to you. Sorry.”

She appealed her disqualification to CAS and the hearing has officially ended on the matter. The verdict will be out soon!
